A Civil Design Technician/CADD Operator is responsible for preparing studies, engineering calculations, design, and drafting of General Civil Engineering Projects. This role involves creating design calculations for stormwater management systems, hydraulic and hydrology calculations, force main/lift station calculations, sanitary sewer pipe sizing, and water distribution calculations. Tasks may also include modeling.
ResponsibilitiesPrepare design calculations for stormwater management systems, hydraulic and hydrology calculations, force main/lift station calculations, sanitary sewer pipe sizing, and water distribution calculations.Design and prepare plans for water, sanitary sewer, drainage, signal, and paving projects.Provide Computer Aided Drafting (Autodesk Civil 3D) for construction plans, site plans, exhibits, etc.Prepare correspondence and attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and utility companies to obtain and provide necessary project data.Prepare permits for regulatory agencies to allow for the completion of studies and projects.Perform quality control checks on work done by other professionals, engineers, technicians, design/drafters, and administrative assistants.Assist project coordinators with correspondence, including letters, permits, and telephone calls, to provide service to various projects and clients.Conduct field visits to project sites to confirm project understanding.Attend work-related professional seminars.Perform construction administration services, including quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, bid specifications, technical specifications, construction contracts, attending pre-bid/construction meetings, providing on-site field inspections, shop drawing reviews, and reviewing monthly construction estimates and schedules.Assist with the Water Quality Monitoring Program for various Stormwater Retrofit Projects.Coordinate efforts of sub-consultants, such as surveyors, environmentalists, and geotechnical services, for the preparation of engineering/construction plans.Review shop drawings.Provide assistant project management responsibilities, including attending meetings, coordinating schedules, managing workers’ time and costs, and checking project designs and drafting.Essential SkillsProficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3DExperience in land development projects with a specialty in water/wastewater/drainage2-5 years of professional experience using AutoCAD Civil 3DStrong knowledge in navigating through AutoCAD Civil 3D softwareAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience using ICPR is a plusA degree in civil engineering is a plus but not requiredWork EnvironmentThis role is set in a professional work environment located near the water in a quaint small downtown area.
