Job Description:
Job Title: Civil Design EngineerGeneral Summary: The Civil Engineer, with supervision from the project engineer, will prepare site development and engineering plans for commercial and industrial sites in conformance to client requirements and local ordinances, and will work with and advise other disciplines on site issues that may impact architectural development and building systems. Essential Job Functions:With assistance, develop design of civil systems including underground utilities, paving, grading and drainage for projectsWith assistance, develop site layout(s) in accordance with zoning and other applicable ordinances and requirementsPrepare working drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3DDraft plan and profile views, such as storm drain, sewer, water and other underground utilities, using smart labels, and other methods.Crate gravity and pressure networks using AutoCAD, Civil 3D Conduct field measuring and/or survey verification at project site. Perform basic topographic surveying for minor projectsReview product submittals (shop drawings) for conformance with contract documents; specify action necessary for complianceWith assistance, prepare project file updates, transmittals, letters, reports, and other project correspondencePerform necessary calculations and prepare supporting documentation for review by Department Manager or senior engineerCoordinate project with other disciplines and advise of site/building system conflictsWith assistance, prepare site plan submittal documents in accordance with local requirementsResearch design options for consideration by senior engineerPerform other duties as assignedEmployment Qualifications:Education:Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related degree Experience:3+ years related experience in site design and engineeringAdditional Skills:Good level of proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and BluebeamKnowledge in Infraworks and BIM 360 is a bonusRoadway geometric design, technical specification writingExcellent written and verbal communicationStrong attention to detail
