Job Title: Civil Design Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Civil Design Engineer to work on both residential and commercial projects involving mixed-use properties, subdivisions, and site plans for multi-family and commercial properties. The ideal candidate will prepare engineering construction documents for various developments, including site layouts, grading, drainage, utilities, and more. This role requires expertise in Civil 3D Land Development Design, Stormwater Management, and Grading.
Responsibilities
+ Prepare engineering construction documents for residential, commercial, and industrial developments, including site layouts, grading, drainage, utilities, earthwork, soil erosion and sediment control, and civil/site permitting.
+ Perform design tasks such as layouts, grading, and drainage associated with civil engineering projects.
+ Prepare complex storm water calculations and reports.
+ Prepare flood studies and flood hazard area permitting.
+ Ensure technical accuracy, standard engineering practices, and inclusion of appropriate documentation on various plans, reports, and design documents.
+ Ensure that assigned projects are completed within the guidelines established by local, state, and federal laws, regulations, standards, and/or policies.
+ Maintain accurate records, notes, and other required documentation for assigned projects.
Essential Skills
+ Civil 3D Land Development Design
+ Stormwater Management
+ Grading
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
+ Proficiency in grading and other site development-related designs
+ Technical skills in stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, including knowledge of hydrologic or hydraulic software (HydraFlow, HydroCAD, StormCAD)
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Degree in Civil Engineering
+ 3-5 years of experience (minimum 2 years in land development)
+ EIT preferred but not required
+ Understanding of land development processes, particularly stormwater management and grading
+ Knowledge of local city, county, and state land use processes and regulations in New Jersey
+ Strong client communication skills
Work Environment
The office has 14 employees, including 4 surveyors and 10 engineers and designers. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with flexibility. Employees enjoy a collaborative environment with opportunities for overtime at time-and-a-half pay, 10 holidays plus one float day, and the office is closed from Christmas to New Year's Day. The company offers a 3% 401(k) match, summer hours with Fridays off if 40 hours are completed by Thursday, and flexible work hours.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $43.27/hr.
