ROLE PURPOSE
To Coordinate for the design and drafting for all Civil scope of works for medium and large projects in the Africa Business Unit (ABU) Project. Additionally, advising on all relevant construction projects undertaken by the Mines in the Business Unit to ensure compliance with OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 Implementation principles within the area of accountability for both permanent and contract employees.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Act on all corrective actions assigned to you or under your jurisdiction and ensure timely completion. Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and during task execution. Report all incidents and ensure they have been investigated and corrective actions completed on time. Investigate all environmental incidents in assigned work areas and prepare reports with recommendations for the departmental Manager for onward submission to the Environmental Manager or his representative. Governance, technical due diligence, and support to capital projects to ensure the compliance of all relevant AGA’s standards. Ensure the health and safety of all personnel associated with the projects. Manage all the consultants providing Civil, structural and earthworks design services for the ABU projects. Produce comprehensive project plans and documentation to enable the project to be managed against a clear set of defined deliverables and milestones. Implement and monitor the design control process from concept, review, issue and as-built for all Civil, structural and construction packages. Manage design review documentation and update relevant registers. Implement AGA drawing configuration and numbering standards for all Civil engineering packages. Conduct an evaluation of the Civil designs and any follow-on action and recommendations as required. Oversee and inspect the Civil construction work to ensure that the infrastructure adheres to AGAG’s requirements with respect to relevant specifications, drawings, and General Arrangements drawings. Ensure the installation is presented in a professional and manner and fully functional. Ensure all aspects of commercial, legal, and financial corporate governance are implemented in accordance with AGA standards. Ensure reliable processes for managing the technical quality of the Plan of Operations and supporting engineering deliverables. Identify and report compliance violations and assist with investigations. Build capacity of team members on compliance related matters (e.g., communications regarding bribery/corruption, ethics, conflicts of interest, gifts, etc.). Ensure all aspects of commercial, legal, and financial corporate governance are implemented in accordance with AGA standards. Ensure reliable processes for managing the technical quality of the Plan of Operations and supporting engineering deliverables. Providing resourcing and planning into the support of project execution standards of AngloGold Ashanti strategic and business plans. Produce project documentation and project progress reports, create project charters, scope documents, management of schedules, basis of schedule documents. Management of Project schedule to achieve business needs and operational requirements.
QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Qualification
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering. Project Management PMP Certified is an advantage.Experience
Must have minimum 5 years relevant experience in engineering designs process and construction protocols. Must be an acknowledged leader in the field of Construction and Project Management of mechanical designing and quality control of construction.Technical Competencies
Fully understands the AGA project management standard requirements to complete a major project (>$10m) to implementation. Can review a major project for compliance against the standard and make recommendations to address deficiencies. Can lead the work of test work and engineering design service provider. Manage project budgets. Basic understanding of Agile project management Construction management.Functional Competencies
Can identify and interpret safety risks and report emerging issues; ensuring that appropriate focus and resources are available to achieve safety objectives. Can review and qualify payment certificates and manage costs on major projects.Other Competencies
