BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT for the 0810 series: Successfully completed a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in Engineering in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Specialized Experience for GS-07: Applicants must have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing at least two (2) of the following tasks: 1) applying civil engineering concepts, principles, or theories to solve simple engineering problems; 2) using software applications, databases, or automated systems to accomplish routine engineering assignments; 3) participating in routine engineering design studies or projects; and/or 4) performing basic field inspections or testing of construction projects under the direction of more experienced inspectors, testers, or engineers. OR Successfully completed a bachelor's degree in engineering AND meet one of the following Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) Provisions: 1) Maintained a grade-point average of "B" (a GPA of 3.0 or higher) for all completed undergraduate courses, or those completed in the last two years of undergraduate study. 2) Maintained a grade-point average "B+" (a GPA of 3.5 or higher) for all courses in your major field of study, or those courses in your major completed in the last two years of undergraduate study. 3) Rank in the upper one-third of your class in the college, university, or major subdivision. 4) Be a member of a national honor (other than freshman honor societies) recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. OR Successfully completed a bachelor's degree in engineering with Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) AND have at least one year of professional engineering experience. Field work requires physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable walking, stooping, bending, crouching, crawling, and climbing such as in regular and periodic construction activities and field inspections.
