Job Title: Jr. Civil Engineer

Job Description

The successful individual will work on commercial and multifamily residential projects, serve as a member of a design team, and assist in coordinating site civil designs to meet project objectives, schedules, and budgets, while working directly under licensed Engineers. The position is full-time, and the ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-6 years of experience in residential site design, with an emphasis on grading, drainage, stormwater management, paving, and permitting.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform engineering tasks in the site/civil engineering field through the development of a working knowledge of applicable design criteria, regulatory requirements, standards, and processes.

2. Demonstrate the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently while being flexible and able to adapt to a changing environment.

3. Perform site visits, investigation, data collecting, review and interpretation of available site plans, survey mapping, and review of agency regulations.

4. Assist project managers/sr. engineers with the design of grading, earthwork analysis, and stormwater management designs.

5. Possess an in-depth knowledge and understanding of site civil design, permitting, and construction plan preparation, and be proficient in using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D to create design plans and details.

6. Prepare cost estimates and specifications based on design drawings.

7. Prepare written correspondence including proposals, Site Investigation Reports, Grading and Drainage Reports, paving assessments, and other required reports.

8. Demonstrate the willingness to expand knowledge base via in-house training and/or self-training.

9. Work within a design team to develop Site plans using AutoCAD including grading, green infrastructure, trail/pedestrian facilities, erosion & sediment control plans and details, utility distribution systems, potable water system design, sanitary sewer design, stormwater management system design, and associated calculations.

10. Prepare associated calculations and spreadsheets.

11. Own transportation and a valid driver's license.

On-site 5 days a week. 2/3 in office, 1/3 in field. Field work involves inspection and assessment. Small office environment with accessible leadership for discussions. Civil division (3 years old) with significant room for upward growth.
