Job Title: Civil Engineer
Job Description

Prepare construction documents and specifications under the direction of a Professional Engineer. Document production includes existing conditions plans, demolition plans, site and layout plans, grading and drainage plans, erosion control plans, utility/infrastructure plans, and construction details. Perform design calculations for utility designs, stormwater management, green infrastructure, earthwork, grading, and erosion control under the direction of a Professional Engineer. Coordinate permitting review processes with multiple agencies and produce concise technical documentation including stormwater management reports, traffic and circulation analysis, and design impact analysis. Work closely with other engineers, architects, and project team members to create integrated sustainable solutions.

ResponsibilitiesPrepare construction documents and specifications.Document production includes existing conditions plans, demolition plans, site and layout plans, grading and drainage plans, erosion control plans, utility/infrastructure plans, and construction details.Perform design calculations for utility designs, stormwater management, green infrastructure, earthwork, grading, and erosion control.Coordinate permitting review processes with multiple agencies, including local municipalities, local county governments, IEPA, MWRD, IDNR, and IDOT.Produce concise technical documentation including stormwater management reports, traffic and circulation analysis, and design impact analysis.Collaborate with other engineers, architects, and project team members to create integrated sustainable solutions.Essential SkillsB.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering.Minimum 1-2 years of civil design experience preferred.Internship or one year of experience in site civil/land development.Knowledge of site grading, stormwater management, sanitary sewer design, water supply systems, and basic site development design skills for private and public sector projects.Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) or plan to pass FE exam within the next year.Working knowledge in AutoCAD.Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.Good written and oral communication skills.Valid driver’s license.Additional Skills & QualificationsKnowledge of site grading, stormwater management, sanitary sewer design, water supply systems, and basic site development design skills for private and public sector projects.Work Environment

This position is based in an open-office environment in the Darien office, working closely with the Land Development team consisting of 6-7 engineers and designers. The work environment is very collaborative, requiring comfort in working closely with others and effective communication on designs. The position is in-office Monday through Wednesday and remote on Fridays. Expect a minimum of 40 hours a week with occasional overtime. The dress code is business professional Monday through Thursday, with a slightly less formal dress code and half-days on Fridays. The building is LEED Platinum certified with ample parking, including preferred parking for hybrid vehicles, and a kitchen with a microwave and tables for lunch.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
