Overview This position is responsible for providing engineering services and support for transmission line design, construction, and maintenance. The work location for this position is Louisville or Lexington, KY or Allentown, PA. The position will be filled at the appropriate level based on the selected candidates experience level. Responsibilities Provide engineering support for all phases of transmission line projects: including planning, design, construction, and maintenance. Provides planning, engineering, and construction estimates to support the transmission plan. Builds and analyzes 3D computer models of transmission line structures and wires using finite element analysis. Develops, designs, and details wood and steel transmission structures. Determines loads and analyzes capacity of wood and steel structures. Engineering analysis of clearances to comply with company standards and the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) Develops specifications and requirements for geotechnical explorations. Performs foundation design for transmission structures under supervision. Preparation of construction documents, including plan and profile and detail sheets. Development of wire sagging charts and computations. Field work includes surveying, construction inspections of foundations and structure installations, and wire sagging. Provide inputs for engineering activities to support development of project schedules. Work with budget analyst to provide monthly cash flows for project assignments. All other duties and projects as assigned.
