Job Title: Civil EngineerJob Description We are seeking a skilled and experienced Civil Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of land and site development projects, including substations, natural gas underground utilities, parking lots, municipalities, and road commissions. The candidate will have the flexibility to work from any of our offices located in Sault Ste. Marie, Gaylord, Okemos, Muskegon, Novi, or Wyandotte, with occasional travel to Okemos for in-person meetings or client site visits. Responsibilities + Provide technical site engineering for commercial, industrial, governmental, and aviation projects. + Prepare drawing packages for all stages of projects, from initial concept and studies to site plan, client approval, permitting, bidding, and construction. + Develop drawing packages using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for geometric layout, grading, drainage, underground utilities, and details. + Review local zoning ordinances to develop site layouts and meet special requirements. + Design site grading, pavement, landscaping, and site utilities (storm, sanitary, water) in accordance with local, state, and federal standards. + Review and incorporate client-specific design standards into projects. + Coordinate civil site design with other disciplines within the firm and partnering consultants to meet project deliverables. + Assist in the preparation of project specification manuals. + Assist in the preparation of cost estimates for client budgeting and plan review fees. + Assist in obtaining permits through federal, state, county, and local authorities for storm, sanitary, water main, SESC, and floodplain work. + Assist in the review of RFIs, contractor submittals, and shop drawings. + Analyze and format topographic survey data. + Develop and maintain CAD standards and templates. + Interface with clients as part of the project team. + Conduct site visits for field measurements and inspections. + Prepare technical reports and engineering studies. + Prepare proposals and RFPs. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering + 10+ years of experience in land development + Proficiency in Civil 3D + Proficiency in AutoCAD + Experience with land development and site planning + EIT certification and working towards PE certification Additional Skills & Qualifications + Professional Engineer (PE) certification + Project management skills + Experience with government, commercial, aviation, and/or industrial projects Work Environment Our Novi office has approximately 60 employees spread across multiple departments. Core working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm, with flexibility. Remote work may be offered one day per week after the candidate is fully trained.
