DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker is actively seeking an Aviation Civil Engineer with 5 – 7 years of professional experience to join the aviation team in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving production of airfield designs and development of construction plans and specifications across multiple projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in civil engineering, including airfield projects, rehabilitation, reconstruction, new airfield pavements, grading and drainage, and general civil site works associated with land development, etc.
While every day can be a new adventure in the life of an Aviation Civil Engineer, a typical day can include:
On-site field investigations, design of construction plans and specifications and performing construction administration General coordination with the internal design team, multiple A/E disciplines, and external teaming partners Performing engineering calculations Analysis of survey data, geotechnical data, subsurface utility information, and other items required for the project/site development. Writing technical engineering reports. Performing Quantity Take-Offs and coordination with cost estimatorsThe career path beyond a Civil Engineer II in the aviation group includes a few potential opportunities for growth depending on your desired path. One could become a Technical Manager becoming responsible for technical project management for multiple projects. One could become a Project Manager becoming responsible for all aspects of project management and managing the client throughout the life of a project. PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering 5 – 7 years of professional experience in all aspects of site civil engineering for design, including grading and drainage design, utility design, etc. A Master’s degree can be substituted for 1-2 years of the 5 years minimum Professional Engineer preferred, or EIT Certification with a path towards obtaining PE Experience in design tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D design. Airfield civil design including airfield pavement design. Knowledge of FAA and/or DoD UFC technical requirements, policies, and procedures Ability to manage and prioritize project assignments to meet competing deadlines. Attention to detail and effective decision making, organization, and editing skills. Good interpersonal, communication, and conceptual thinking skills. Work independently and within a team setting to support projects and assignments.What would make me stand out as a candidate?
Level and type of airfield design experience. Broad knowledge of aviation planning, design, and construction. Overall knowledge of the aviation industry. Knowledge and experience with the AIP and the grant programs. Prior experience with FAA’s advisory circulars and their application in airport layout and geometric design a plus. Federal/DoD Aviation design experience.COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is $82,326 to $129,667. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
