COMPENSATION
Assistant Civil Engineer: $73,878-$96,395
Civil Engineer I- $87,701-$110,444
Civil Engineer II- $104,266-$125,964
Civil Engineer III- $116,636-$137,501
Note: A degree in any other engineering area, or in any engineering technology area, is not acceptable. Current New York State registration as a Professional Engineer must be maintained for the duration of your employment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will be responsible for providing on-time and accurate Track Engineering support of MOW, Capital Construction and C&D Projects that include track, switches and third rail, including ADA station modernization, and other Platform Rehabilitation Projects. Some of the tasks that this position performs include: Special Work and Track work designs; field engineering surveys and construction assistance; technical support to the Procurement Division to resolve inspection issues; review of shop drawings and evaluation of first articles' materials; maintain and update the Standard Track Drawings and Standard Specifications for Track, Infrastructure and Power Distribution Materials; participate in investigation of derailments and/or other track incidents. Performance of these tasks is essential for assuring a timely completion of track projects (both by in-house and third-party Contracts) as well to assure the safety of the track system of NYCT.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A ssistant Civil Engineer
A Baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and a master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.
Civil Engineer I-III
A valid New York State Professional Engineer’s License and either:
+ A master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of full-time, satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or
+ Four (4) years of full-time, satisfactory experience in civil engineering work.
In addition to the above qualification requirements, to be eligible for placement in level II and III, individuals must have at least one (1) year within the last three (3) years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct the project.
DESIRED SKILLS
+ Preferable computer savvy with CAD software and other MS office software.
+ Preferable knowledge of using surveying equipment.
SELECTION METHOD
Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.
All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
