COMPENSATION
Assistant Civil Engineer: $73,878 - $96,395
Civil Engineer I- $87,701 - $110,444
Civil Engineer II- $104,266 - $125,964
Civil Engineer III- $116,636 - $137,501
RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will be responsible for administering various maintenance and repair contracts supporting New York City Transit as well as the preparation of new contracts, modifications, qualification of vendors, project management and special projects. Work includes on-site inspections to ensure contractor compliance, address concerns, changes orders and maintain consistent follow up on all outstanding issues. This position will also include researching assignments, project planning/supervision, scheduling of work, monitoring of vendor performance and will include but is not limited to direct oversite of the following maintenance/ repair contracts; paving and related construction, fuel tank systems, fence installations, plumbing, fire suppression/sprinkler systems, emergency generators, UPS and ATS systems. Emergency field coverage and flexibility in work hours are required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A valid New York State Professional Engineer's License and four years of full-time
experience in civil engineering. A master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited
college will be accepted as equivalent to one year of the full-time experience in civil
engineering.
Special Note:
In addition to above qualification requirements, to be eligible for placement in
Assignment Levels II and III, individuals must have at least one year within the last
three years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project
requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct
the project.
DESIRED SKILLS
Experience in one or more of the following areas: contract/facilities management; paving and related construction, mechanical/electrical systems/equipment for buildings and facilities.
Firm understanding of project coordination to minimize impact on both public and transit operations. Ability to coordinate between various NYCT divisions along with New York City and State Agencies. Familiarity with NYC Transit operations, procurement practices/procedures, purchasing options and knowledge of budget process along with construction techniques and methodologies. Excellent oral, written and organization skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
SELECTION METHOD
Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.
All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
