Civil Engineer - Stormwater

Job overview: Seeking a skilled Civil Engineer with a specialization in Stormwater Management. The role involves designing and managing stormwater systems, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and collaborating on various development projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Stormwater Design and Analysis:

Develop stormwater management plans, including drainage, retention/detention basins, and water quality features.

Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using software such as HEC-RAS, SWMM, and HydroCAD.

Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and reports related to stormwater systems.

Perform calculations for stormwater flow rates, runoff, and storage requirements.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure designs meet local, state, and federal stormwater regulations, including Georgia-specific requirements.

Prepare and submit permit applications and documentation for regulatory approval.

Stay informed about the latest stormwater management regulations and best practices.

Project Management and Collaboration:

Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other engineers to integrate stormwater solutions into overall site designs.

Manage stormwater tasks within larger civil engineering projects, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.

Provide technical support and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.

Field Assessments and Quality Control:

Conduct site visits to evaluate conditions, collect data, and support the implementation of designs.

Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications and address any issues on-site.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

Professional Engineer (PE) license 

Experience in stormwater design and management, preferably in Georgia.

Proficiency in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM, HydroCAD) and CAD tools.

Familiarity with Georgia stormwater regulations and permitting processes.

Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Experience with sustainable stormwater practices, such as green infrastructure and low-impact development (LID).

Familiarity with GIS software for spatial analysis.
