A Brief Summary of This Position:
Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Civil Engineering Intern position in the Global Utility Division. We are looking for a highly driven individual who will be an active participant in contributing to the goals of the NA Steel Design Engineering team while learning best practices from some of the finest Engineers in the world. You will learn a tremendous amount in this role and will be given exposure to other parts of the business, including subject matter experts from a wide variety of divisions and professions.

This position is scheduled to start at the beginning of summer 2025, with full-time hours during the summer. There is the potential to continue part-time through the fall and spring semesters.
Essential Functions:
Actively learn the basics of steel transmission pole designAssist in design documents revision and loading testsWork with a design team that consists of one or more individuals from Manufacturing, Procurement, Service, Quality Assurance, and Engineering Services getting exposure to different angles of team development including the process usedApply knowledge from university classroom learning to real-world structural engineering practiceRequired Qualifications of Every Candidate:
Junior standing (to be senior after summer) pursuing a degree in Civil or Structural EngineeringCAD skills including design applications and converting drawings to 3D modelsProficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applicationDemonstrated strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsDemonstrated problem-solving/critical thinking skillsHighly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:
Completion of undergraduate-level steel structure design courseCompletion of basic finite element analysis coursePrevious internship related to civil engineering#LI-JC1
