Stantec's Community Development group has an opportunity for a highly motivated Civil Engineering Intern to join their team in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
As an Intern, you will work as a team member on small and large projects under the guidance and supervision of a senior engineer or designer. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include calculations, drawing preparation, and fieldwork. The projects that an intern may be assigned to may be broad, varied, and diverse in scope.

From residential and commercial developments to industrial, recreational, resort, and institutional projects, our experience is broad. This is a terrific opportunity for a current college student to support a few exciting local and national projects. 

Your Key Responsibilities

Assists engineers in the preparation of contract documents Supports a project team in the development of design documentation, plans, and reports for relevant project design elements. Performs calculations to analyze and design civil system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software Design and drafting, review of drawings and calculations, and field inspection. Tasks will include exposure to AutoCAD, Civil3D, HydroCAD, and StormCAD.

 

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Minimum requirements include Microsoft Office Suite and some exposure to AutoCAD Design programs Enthusiastic and motivated to learn and develop technical skills Ability to collaborate with professionals Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills 

Education and Experience

In progress toward earning a bachelor's degree in civil engineering Specific coursework or exposure to one or more of the following: Planning, grading design, utility infrastructure, and stormwater management. 

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
