Your Opportunity

Stantec is now accepting applications for Summer 2025 Civil Engineering interns within our Community Development Group in multiple locations throughout Minnesota (Twin Cities, St. Cloud, Rochester).

As an intern, you will work in a team environment gaining practical on-the-job experience while having exposure to community development projects.  Most of your time will be spent working outside on construction activities. Projects may include urban design and planning, roadways, park and recreation design, multi-use trail and pathway design, traffic engineering, landscape architecture, assessment and rehabilitation, infrastructure design, water and wastewater conveyance, and storm water management. Your Key Responsibilities Use technical and communication abilities to assist with completing the civil component of a wide variety of projects in a dynamic design team setting. Perform construction observation for project compliance with project documents and engineering principals. Perform construction administration duties including documenting construction activities, measuring of materials, witness materials testing, review of shop drawings, and providing general project oversight. Complete detailed reports as required. Assist with construction surveying/staking as needed. Communicate effectively with construction and engineering staff, clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders. Office duties if available may include assisting with CAD drafting and design, and preparation of plans and specifications, reports, and other project deliverables. Your Capabilities and Credentials Experienced with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Requires understanding of basic AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and general surveying. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Strong interest in serving municipalities with their infrastructure needs. Good organizational skills Ability to multi-task, prioritize, take direction, and work independently. Ability to work in outdoor conditions and be physically capable of navigating rugged terrain for the purpose of performing the duties outlined above. Must have a reliable transportation to go to and from job sites, good driving record, and valid driver’s license.  You will be reimbursed for business-related travel and expenses. Education and Experience

In progress toward earning a bachelor’s degree (minimum) in civil engineering, structural engineering, construction engineering, construction management GIS/Survey, or related field from a post-secondary institution.
Specific coursework or exposure to one or more of the following is desired: civil engineering planning, design, construction, infrastructure, hydrology, environmental science, surveying and construction management.

Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk.
