As a Civil Engineering Project Manager, you will work on exciting site-civil design and land development projects (both public and private) in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Reporting to the Hunt Valley, MD office, successful candidates will perform engineering tasks while taking on project management responsibilities and leading teams to ensure successful project delivery. This role offers opportunities to expand your individual responsibilities as part of a growing team, while working on projects focused in the Maryland Virginia area.

Responsibilities:
Design & Engineering
Lead all design aspects of engineering projects, including layout, grading, earthwork, storm drain, septic, sanitary sewer, water, stormwater management, and erosion/sediment control.Perform field investigations to assess existing site conditions and project needs.Prepare and submit design packages to relevant agencies for review and approval.Ensure designs comply with federal, state, and local codes, standards, and regulations.Draft and review technical specifications for various site-civil design elements.Review and approve design work to ensure it meets regulatory standards and client specifications.Project Management
Oversee all aspects of site-civil engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget and quality standards.Lead technical, cost, and scheduling decisions, driving value and ensuring compliance with internal quality control and risk management protocols (e.g., peer reviews).Manage multiple projects simultaneously, coordinating internal teams, external clients, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve project goals.Oversee project documentation, including contracts, permits, and change orders.Monitor project progress and address challenges during design and construction phases.Manage project deliverables, ensuring timely submissions for agency reviews and approvals.Provide leadership and guidance to junior engineers and designers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.Develop and manage project schedules, proactively addressing delays or obstacles.Track and manage project budgets, ensuring resources are effectively allocated and financial targets are met.Coordinate project resources, ensuring appropriate staffing and technical support.Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Interface with clients to understand project requirements and ensure satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.Occasionally travel to project/client sites to conduct site visits, complete tasks, and attend meetings as needed.Permitting & Compliance
Participate in permitting processes at the local, state, and federal levels.Complete as-constructed/as-built drawings to ensure compliance with design specifications and permit requirements.
Qualifications
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.8+ years of site-civil engineering related experience.4+ years project related experience and knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.Professional Engineering (PE) license (MD or PA). Must complete Kleinfelder’s project manager qualification card within one year.Knowledge with MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D and Revit. Excellent written and oral communication skills.Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, project managers, supervisors, and other team members.Valid driver's license with demonstrated safe driving practicesMove Forward with Kleinfelder
