As a Civil Engineering Project Manager, you will work on exciting site-civil design and land development projects (both public and private) in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Reporting to the Bowie, MD office, successful candidates will perform engineering tasks while taking on project management responsibilities and leading teams to ensure successful project delivery. This role offers opportunities to expand your individual responsibilities as part of a growing team, while working in the central Maryland region.

Responsibilities:
Design & Engineering
Lead all design aspects, including layout, grading, earthwork, stormwater management, utilities, and erosion control.Conduct field investigations to assess existing conditions and project needs.Prepare and submit design packages for agency review and approval.Ensure designs meet federal, state, and local codes and regulations.Draft and review technical specifications to align with client needs and project requirements.
Project Management
Manage all phases of site-civil engineering projects, from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards.Lead project teams, coordinating with internal staff, clients, contractors, and stakeholders to meet project objectives.Oversee project documentation, including contracts, permits, and change orders.Monitor project progress, addressing challenges to maintain timelines and budgets.Develop and manage project schedules, proactively resolving delays or obstacles.Track project budgets, produces invoices, reviews deliverables ensuring financial targets are met and resources are efficiently allocated. Performs tasks in support of project scheduling, costs, documents and reporting activities. (Develop project data such as fee estimates, earned value, status reports, cost reports, backlog projections and resource needs.)Oversee project deliverables, ensuring timely submissions to agencies for review and approval.Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Maintain effective communication with clients to ensure project goals and expectations are met.Occasionally travel to project sites for site visits, meetings, and project assessments.
Permitting & Compliance
Participate in local, state, and federal permitting processes.Ensure compliance with design specifications and permit requirements through as-built drawings.Qualifications:
B.S. in civil engineering or related field.6+ years of site-civil engineering experience.3+ years of project management experience, with knowledge of applicable regulations.Professional Engineering (PE) license (MD or PA) or the ability to obtain within 6 months.Ability to complete Kleinfelder’s project manager qualification within one year.Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D, and Revit.Strong written and oral communication skills.Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, project managers, supervisors, and other team members.Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
