Tetra Tech’s San Juan, PR office has an opening for a Environmental or Civil Engineering Intern. The Intern's primary responsibility will be to support in the field work required for the identification and georeferencing of municipal stormwater infrastructure in the Municipality of Toa Baja, Puerto Rico.
The objective of the project is to generate maps of all the stormwater infrastructure that exists in the Municipality of Toa Baja and thus comply with the requirements of the General Permit for Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) of the Clean Water Act (CWA)..
Your Role
· Complete a minimum of 6 hours of fieldwork per day.
· Complete 1 to 3 days of fieldwork per week.
· During field work, take dimensions of the identified stormwater infrastructure and complete Field Maps database using an iPhone 13.
· During field work, estimate stormwater runoff flow direction and stormwater infrastructure connections.
· Field work requires travel by car or on foot.
· Field work requires the use of long pants, closed shoes and short-sleeved or long-sleeved shirts.
· For field work, the use of sunscreen and, occasionally, the use of insect repellent is recommended.
· This job requires the student to travel to the Municipality of Toa Baja on previously assigned days.
Qualifications
At least three full years of college education and actively enrolled in an engineering, environmental science or related field of study. Ability to work as a team. Ability to follow instructions related to field work and health and safety measures. Language Spanish Valid Puerto Rico Driver's LicenseThis position is for part time, temporary employment.
