Job Description

Be part of a team of engineers and scientists developing designs required to implement removal and remedial actions for the cleanup of environmentally impacted sites and abandoned mines. Work with a team to perform engineering design, develop plans, specifications, and cost estimating. Support engineering alternative evaluations for removal and remedial actions at abandoned mines. Support pilot studies of new technologies and approaches for mine cleanup. Provide construction oversight of design implementation by construction contractors. Oversee field construction activities and be familiar with heavy equipment, construction means and methods, and management activities. Communicate with clients and contractors in the field during construction; serve as a liaison between the field and experienced engineers in the office. Manage projects, budgets, and teams.

This position involves primarily desk work, with occasional (30%) travel for fieldwork. Fieldwork will take place at uranium mines in Albuquerque, NM. The position allows for overtime and follows a two-week work and one-week off schedule. During the two weeks on, you will travel to the field to work on uranium mines, with travel, room, food, and rental car with gas provided by the client. You will be in the field for 10 days straight and then can either take the week off or work remotely on documentation. Fieldwork is conducted from April to September, and during other months, you will work remotely on documentation and report writing. The role involves hiking to project sites consistently, so candidates must be physically capable of doing this. Day-to-day activities include gamma and soil sampling and developing remediation plans with the team.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $43.00/hr.
