Civil Project Manager
Job Title: Civil Project Manager - Transportation ProjectsJob Description We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Project Manager to lead and manage transportation projects, ranging from small to medium highways and local roads to complex, multi-disciplinary freeway and interchange projects. This role involves mentoring design staff, overseeing plan development, and managing project schedules, budgets, and resources. The successful candidate will also act as a client liaison, support marketing efforts, and contribute to business development in the transportation market. Responsibilities + Manage and lead transportation projects, including small to medium highways, local roads, and complex freeway and interchange projects. + Mentor design staff and oversee plan development, including horizontal and vertical geometry, 3D roadway modeling, quantity calculations, and utility coordination. + Manage and coordinate engineers, designers, and staffing needs while tracking workloads and finances to ensure on-schedule, on-budget delivery. + Create project schedules, budgets, and resource plans, monitoring progress and making adjustments as needed. + Participate in project scoping, fee estimating, proposal preparation, interviews, and act as the client liaison. + Build strong client relationships, resolve issues, and secure approvals to ensure successful project completion. + Support marketing efforts by identifying opportunities, assisting with strategy development, and contributing to proposals and interviews. Essential Skills + Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university. + A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. + A minimum of 5 years of Project Management experience with the Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois Tollway, or local government agencies. + Proficient in virtual collaboration tools such as ProjectWise, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Teams. + Experienced in and fully capable of using Microsoft software suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. + Proven leadership, communication, collaboration, mentoring, and client liaison skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred. + Established relationships with Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois Tollway, or local government agencies. + Working knowledge of roadway design software such as MicroStation and Open Roads Designer (ORD). + Experience in development of alternative delivery projects. + Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a project team. Work Environment This role offers a hybrid work schedule consisting of two days a week in the office, two days a week remotely, and Friday being a flexible day. Additionally, a compressed workweek schedule is available, with every other Friday off. Initially, the individual will work in the office for the first 30 days for onboarding. This position is part of a small team focused on small- to mid-size highway/roadway projects in Illinois.
