As the Civil/Structural CAD Designer II at Bloom Energy, you will be responsible for creating detailed Civil and Structural design drawings and plans for Bloom Energy fuel cell installation projects. This role involves using CAD software to draft land development plans, structural designs, and construction documents while ensuring compliance with industry standards and building codes.

You will be part of a highly creative and efficient design team tasked with solving problems and challenging the status quo. You will have a direct impact on the design of sites, provide technical design guidance and vendor oversight, solve large-scale implementation issues, and build a strong understanding of Bloom Energy program requirements. The Civil/Structural CAD Designer II must bring a strong understanding of a broad set of engineering and structural solutions and have the ability to manage the internal CAD plan design with a team of individuals. This position will interface with a larger site installation design team comprised of civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers, and a team of CAD technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

Draft land development plans, zoning plans, concept plans, and construction documents using AutoCADEvaluate existing site conditions based on record drawings, surveys, field notes and photos, and other related information provided by others to incorporate Bloom Energy installation improvements for commercial land development projects and prepare design project schedule, budget, and deliverablesCreate site plan renderings for presentationsUtilize structural software, particularly Hilti Profis and STAAD Pro, for structural design and documentationDesign and analyze structural systems for the installation of our energy servers at existing buildings including healthcare facilities, data centers, and educational institutionsDesign and detail foundations and support systems for energy infrastructure, including:Server equipment pads and foundationsBuilding-mounted conduit support systemsLightning protection pole foundationsEquipment anchorage and isolation systemsSeismic and vibration considerations for sensitive equipmentSound, screening, and retaining wall designRelated structural calculations and construction documentationPrepare detailed calculations and reports to justify design decisions and ensure structural complianceCollaborate with engineers and other designers to ensure cohesive design and compliance with Building and Construction code requirements and to internal specifications required for Bloom Energy fuel cell systemsManage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining efficiency and meeting deadlinesOrganize and maintain all revisions of project drawings, plot files, and related informationProvide Construction Administration support by responding to construction submittals and RFIs

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master's degree preferredProficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, Hilti Profis, STAAD Pro, and other structural design software (e.g., RAM, ETABS)Experience with 3D modeling software such as AutoTURNMust have experience in preparing grading designs and understand site topography, development of storm water management, erosion/sediment control, and site control plans from concept design through permitting & approvals and construction completion.Knowledge of building codes and standards related to construction projects (i.e. IBC, NFPA, NEC, ASCE, AWWA)Experience in structural design with various materials including masonry, steel, and concreteSkills in earthwork analysis and cut/fill calculationsExceptional organization, verbal and written communication skills that include a minimum of the following:Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear, concise manner for a non-technical audience.Ability to interact professionally and collaboratively with engineers of different disciplinesAbility to confidently and clearly define engineering requirements. Self-starter that shows the ability to work independently and under minimal supervision.Ability to make decisions on key technical issues in a demanding, fast paced environmentProfessional Engineer (PE) license is a bonus

This role requires a combination of technical expertise in CAD software, understanding of civil and structural engineering principles, and the ability to work collaboratively on diverse projects while adhering to industry standards and regulations.
