Civil/Structural Engineer

Job Posting Summary
Seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to support field engineering activities and resolve construction-related problems for ongoing projects.

Job Requirements

US citizenship required. Ability to complete a security questionnaire and successfully clear site access requirements. Eligibility to obtain a site security badge. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check (verification of employment and education). BS in Structural/Civil Engineering and 9 years of related experience, or 15 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree. PE license or ability to obtain within 12 months.

Required Knowledge and Skills

Ability to independently execute detailed design of complex steel and/or concrete structures. Thorough knowledge and application of AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI 318, and ASCE 7. Proficiency in structural analysis software such as GTSTRUDL or SAP 2000. Experience with CADD applications like MicroStation or Tekla. Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, including drawings, specifications, and material requisitions. Understanding of construction methods for concrete and steel structures. Familiarity with work processes of other disciplines and departments on projects.

Preferred Skills

Relevant experience on the UPF Project or similar DOE projects.

Job Responsibilities

Support field engineering activities for ongoing construction work. Resolve construction problems via meetings, correspondence, field changes, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and Construction Deficiency Reports (CDRs) related to CSA discipline. Originate or check engineering dispositions based on reviews of deliverables, including steel and concrete calculations, Finite Element Analysis, and specifications. Review and coordinate technical documents across engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction. Schedule and monitor work activities and manage specifically assigned project tasks. Assist in constructability reviews. Mentor or coach subordinate engineers.

Pay Details: $56.00 to $75.00 per hour
