Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Environmental & Facilities Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Engineer - Civil/Structural SME (Subject Matter Expert).
The primary responsibility of this role is to serve in a planning capacity to develop and plan projects, alone or with support from third party vendors, then to support the Project Implementation Team as the project requires, with relevant civil/structural expertise during the typical project delivery process.
Reporting to the Civil/Structural Engineer Manager, the person in this role will support the Environmental & Facilities - Project Planning Section to be a leader in strategic planning of projects for all shops and sites across North America.
What you’ll be doing
Lead planning and project development for new construction and renovation projects across NA portfolio
Provide technical support to N.A. plants in areas of industrial & commercial building design and pre-construction planning.
Serve as N.A. "Subject Matter Expert" related to Civil & Structural systems.
Investigate building industry trends, global Toyota trends, and current/past building issues to introduce innovation and improvements for N.A. civil/structural and building systems
Support the development of N.A. building standards/specifications
Work with internal stakeholders to develop project criteria, scope, estimate and project schedules.
Provide internal review of Civil & Structural system drawings from outside engineering firms to support system implementation.
Ensure compliance with related local, state, national codes, facility operations and Toyota standards.
What you bring
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or higher) or 5+ years equivalent work experience
5+ Years of experience in industrial & commercial building construction, design & implementation.
Experience with project planning including estimating, scheduling and scope/proposal development
Intermediate skill level with: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, and Outlook)
Proficiency in AutoCAD, BluBeam, or other PDF editing software.
Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% when required
Willingness and ability to work up to 25% overtime when required
Added bonus if you have
Professional Engineering License (PE)
Strong technical background in civil or steel/concrete/masonry design
Field project management experience
OSHA 30
