Job Description

Actalent is seeking a Civil Structural Manager to work hybrid out of the Lake Mary office for North American HQ for Plant Engineering to support primarily Gas Turbine auxiliary equipment related to large frame industrial gas turbines in simple cycle and/or combined cycle operation with the Steam Turbines. The Civil Structural Manager is responsible for leading a team of engineers and designers in developing civil and structural designs that meet code, contract, and schedule requirements for projects in the Americas.

ResponsibilitiesSet goals for team members, conduct one-on-one follow-up meetings to track progress, and develop individual performance as per Leadership/HR policies.Establish processes and procedures for the team to ensure proper manpower forecast, staffing, and effective/optimized use of resources while providing high quality design packages.Maintain Lessons Learned, ECN process (Engineering Change Notices), and Task Management Systems (TMS) related to the Civil Team on a continuous basis.Develop division of responsibilities (DOR) between the Civil Team and other engineering teams, including international engineering partners, to transfer the applicable scope of work accurately and effectively.Lead the team through planning, setup, and monitoring of inter-discipline workflows and coordination of design activities with other engineering disciplines, especially with the packaged equipment team.Review, comment, and approve work prepared by the team on project documents and drawings to meet contractual obligations.Conduct regular meetings with international engineering partners to ensure successful design implementation.Monitor schedules, budgets, and estimates through completion to ensure the assigned scope finishes on time and within budget.Provide regular status updates to management.Collaborate with stakeholders such as Supply Chain Management, Quality Team, Construction Team, and other Engineering Teams to prioritize and resolve any issues related to MPSA sourced scope for Gas Turbine and Combined Cycle Projects.Provide technical support to Application Engineering Teams, Commercial Operations Teams, and Estimation Teams in completing the estimation for the Civil and Structural scope of work.Understand lead times for designing, manufacturing/assembling, and installing/commissioning of Gas Turbine and HRSG related civil and structural scope.Support simplification and standardization of product designs for improved manufacturability and cost reduction without compromising product quality and functionality.Ensure strong familiarity with OSHA, AISC, ACI, IBC, and ASCE 7 design codes, industry standards, and best practices.Familiarity with STAAD (Structural design tool).QualificationsBachelor’s degree (BS) in Civil Engineering.Minimum 15 years of technical experience in an industrial facility.Minimum 4 years of management experience, with non-managerial roles demonstrating leadership responsibilities also considered.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Preferred SkillsKnowledge of database, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software.Familiarity with electronic mail, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, PDF editor, etc.Speaking Spanish and/or Japanese is a plus.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $170000.00
