Job Description:
Summary:
The person in this position will work on challenging civil/environmental engineering projects involving data collection, planning, and problem-solving in the water resources field. Project responsibilities may include water quality sampling, survey, and field data collection at wells or project sites; erosion control inspection; construction observation; sampling equipment preparation and monitoring; data reduction; spreadsheet preparation; CADD; assistance with construction plans and specifications; and assistance with report preparation.
Minimum Qualifications:
Two-year technical certificate or equivalent training and work experience directly related to the job responsibilities described above
Intermediate mathematical and computer skills
Familiarity using Autodesk Civil3D software
Ability and willingness to conduct fieldwork independently
Comfortable working on and around water and/or ice-covered water bodies
Thorough and organized approach to work with strong attention to detail
Flexible working style, self-initiative, self-motivation, and a willingness to work with teams to meet clients’ needs and project schedules
Attention to detail and ability to provide quality deliverables in accordance with deadlines
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients
Familiarity with Microsoft 365 Office, specifically Word and Excel software
Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future
Possession of a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
Survey or laser scanning experience
Experience preparing cost estimates based on take-offs and for feasibility and construction projects
Experience in developing, using, and interpreting construction and site development plans
Experience with preparation of project specifications
Experience or training with erosion control inspection
Construction observation and documentation experience
FAA Part 107 sUAS Pilot License
A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota, office.
NOTE: Some work locations may feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and may also require entering and working in facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Job assignments may involve work on waste disposal sites and sites requiring cleanup of hazardous materials. An OSHA-mandated physical exam may be required. Safety training will be provided. Applicants may be asked to participate in a drug screening program at the request of specific clients.
