By joining our team of military trained instructor pilots, you will be helping to create a dynamic and exciting environment for students learning to fly and operate the CT156 Harvard and perform instructional in-flight missions with Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) students/instructors, including pre and post mission brief and evaluate mission performance and readiness to progress through prescribed learning path as defined by the RCAF.

 

Contracted by the RCAF, CAE Qualified Flight Instructor Pilots will provide inflight instruction on the CT156 aircraft.

 

CQFIs will become qualified to instruct students on Clearhood, Instrument, Navigation, Formation and Composite missions as depicted in the appropriate ITP and as applicable to the CQFI’s assigned duties. CQFIs may also be required to work in Flying Instructors School, to conduct staff development, and/or conduct QFI training based on demonstrated performance. Each CQFI must maintain RCAF currency and proficiency requirements.

Perform instructional in-flight missions with RCAF students/instructors, including pre and post mission brief and evaluate mission performance and readiness to progress through prescribed learning path as defined by the RCAF.

Attend weather briefs applicable to assigned flight times;Maintain flying proficiency, category and currency in accordance with applicable orders (B-GA-100, RCAF FOM, 2 CFFTS Orders and CQFI SOW);Update FlightPro currencies and obligations as required;Ensure that assigned students are progressing in accordance with the ITP;Ensure that each student is given a comprehensive briefing prior to each dual/solo mission in accordance with instructional doctrine; Execute instructional sorties in accordance with RCAF instructional doctrine;Be able to execute all missions in the CT156 Phase II, III and/or FIS syllabi, including cross country and/or out and back missions;Ensure each student is given a comprehensive debriefing following each dual mission;Advise the Flight Comd or Deputy Flight Comd of any student flying deficiencies in accordance with 2 CFFTS orders and policies;Complete and release a progress card in accordance with 2 CFFTS Orders. Completion should normally occur within 24 hours of training sortie completion where facilities permit, and ideally prior to the student’s next training sortie;Assist the flight commander in monitoring instructor continuity of assigned students as required; Prepare and conduct presentations/briefings on instructional topics to include A Category ground school as applicable, Follow CAF Flight Safety program and protocols in accordance with A-GA-135-001/AA-001 – Flight Safety for the Canadian Armed Forces manual.May be assigned to perform Test Pilot duties as required.

 

Must have previous experience as a qualified military pilot and must successfully complete RCAF-furnished conversion and flight instructor training on the CT156;

Must successfully pass initial and/or regular assessments as required, administered and performed by appointed RCAF personnel of CQFIs on conversion syllabus PCs, FIC PCs, APC, IRT, rear seat proficiency checks and QFI Category check-flights.

CQFI candidates must meet the following requirements:

Military pilot experience as follows:Minimum of a two-year operational tour as a military pilot and have attained Aircraft Commander status; orAIMB qualification and two years of experience as a flight instructor, or equivalent qualification and experience as recognized by 2 Cdn Air Div.All non-native English speakers must pass the TOEFL with the following results:

Reading, advanced,

Listening, advanced,

Speaking, advanced,

Writing, advanced.

Military or professional flying experience within the last 10 years;Maintain a TC category 1 medical and any additional medical exams as required by the RCAF; andBody weight and anthropometric measurements must be within the limits of the CT156.

The following are preferred qualifications for CQFIs:

Previous CT156 NFTC QFI experience;Possess a Commercial Pilot’s License at a minimum;Flight lead experience in a trainer or fighter aircraft;Experience in military instruction;Verbal French skills.

 

Candidate must successfully pass a security evaluation per the requirements of the Controlled Goods Directorate of Canada and to CAE being able to obtain all necessary re-transfer authorization in compliance with US ITAR regulations.
