About you and this Role
Dow's Claim Department EMEAI is offering an exciting opportunity for a Claim Coordinator in Terneuzen, The Netherlands.
As a Claim Coordinator, you will handle complex and legally intricate claims across all modes of transport and Dow businesses. You will manage the entire claim process, working closely with both internal and external stakeholders and our regional counterparts.
We are looking for someone with a legal background and/or relevant work experience, who is highly motivated and eager to develop professionally. The ideal candidate is an analytical thinker and multitasker who can prioritize their workload while maintaining attention to detail. You should be a professional who remains calm under pressure and a team player who demonstrates tact and diplomacy.
This role will help you expand your knowledge throughout the company, build a diverse network within Dow, and increase your visibility. The Claims Department is part of Dow Logistics within the Integrated Supply Chain, responsible for coordinating logistic services such as road and marine transport and the storage of Dow products. The function makes sure that Dow products are delivered on time throughout EMEAI region. However, damage and loss to cargo can happen throughout our organization’s supply chain; from defective packaging at a manufacturing plant to sloppy loading and unloading, crush damage from other cargo, theft, misrouting, mislabeling and so on. The cost of damaged or lost cargo can be enormous and can represent a significant impact on profits and this is where the Claims Department steps in.
Furthermore, as Claim Coordinator, you'll be the first point of contact for all claims, handling a variety of administrative and reporting tasks. You'll work closely with stakeholders to gather necessary data and documents, ensuring a smooth claim process from start to finish. In addition, you will take on non-urgent claims; claims that do not require immediate action, such as arranging surveys.
Responsibilities
Monitor and Distribute Claims: Oversee incoming claims and distribute them across the team/teams.Claim Database Management: Act as the owner of the Claim Database, ensuring accurate data input and reconciliation for accounting purposes.Damage Assessment: Determine the preliminary probable cause of damage and take appropriate actions.Administrative Support: Perform all-round administrative tasks related to claims.Liability Statements: Assess incoming claims and send out statements of liability accordingly.Support Coordination: Assist in coordinating shipment returns, disposal, or off-grade sell of material for lower value and less legally complex claims.Communication: disperse incoming communication to the team and provide claim communications for informational purposes to plant personnel, customer account representatives, businesses etc.
Qualifications
Education: Minimum of a vocational degree (EQ4, MBO-4 level in the Netherlands) is required. Bachelor’s degree in law is preferred.Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in law, logistics or a related field.Language: Fluent in English.
