Claims Customer Service Representative

The Claims Customer Service Representative completes accident reports for property, auto, and general liability losses and transmits claim reports and related documentation to claim administrator.  Provides initial and “triage” direction to managers for vehicle disposition, post-accident drug screens, repair protocol, team member injury management, etc. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Provide extensive telephonic customer service to field management, claim administrators, customers, etc.

Provide assistance to field management to ensure they understand the procedure in the life of their claim concerning third party insurance contacts, contacts from our claim administrator, and repairing their vehicle.

Complete loss notices for auto, general liability and property claims.

Immediate notification to Director of Claims and Risk Administration, Claims Manager, and Claim Coordinators of accident of a serious nature.

Provide administrative support and assistance to Claim Coordinators while following and adhering to claim guidelines/standards.

Familiarity with and autonomous completion of assigned tasks such as, notification of states of uninsured motorists, ordering of police reports, file processing as provided by Claims Coordinator, follow up on subrogation files, sending file information to collections, and keeping record of dollars recovered.

Providing auto accident notifications to 3rd party insurance carriers.

Proficiency in the processing and accuracy of all claims is essential and timeliness and confidentiality are mandated.

Consistent, accurate, and complete entry of data into claim management databases.

Maintenance of claim files to include keeping current and accurate data, etc.

Liaison for Regional, District and Store Managers concerning drivers training, policies and procedures.

Assist in the management of rental vehicle use to insure minimization of claims cost.

Knowledge of company’s operations and objectives, achieve balance between “properly adjusting” claims and being sensitive to “business” issues.

Assist in the communication of point determinations to the Driving Eligibility Administrator.

Administer program for obtaining claim data reports, including accident reports, vandalism reports, arrest reports, fire reports, and theft reports.

SKILLS/EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/ABILITIES

Required:

High school diploma

Competency in Word processing, databases, spreadsheets and other software

Excellent and professional written and verbal communication

Strong organizational skills

Proficient use of office equipment

Desired: 

Working knowledge of the Insurance Industry

1 year or more previous work clerical experience

Supplemental experience in claim, legal, or risk management
