Claims Director - Real Estate Claims

How you'll make an impact To work with the Chief Claims Officer and the business to ensure we produce effective claims service delivery solutions that meet our clients’ expectations. To work with the Chief Claims Officer and/or any other key stakeholders involved (insurers/loss adjusters/TPAs) to generate comprehensive claims analysis and reporting on all claims activities. To improve/ensure analysis on claims experience and lead claims presentations/delivery of this information to clients, where appropriate. Ensure that claims statistics, when required by the client, Placing Department or insurers on risk, are accurate and produced in a timely fashion. To facilitate and co-ordinate periodic meetings, with the appropriate stakeholders on specific claims related issues as required to meet our clients’ expectations; and to manage claims relations with key individuals from insurers, loss adjusters, other claims service providers and insurance industry market bodies, including TPA’s. Offer appropriate technical advice to clients throughout the claims process. Be supportive, empathetic and effectively manage their expectations regarding the claim process, timescales, policy and/or legal liability and quantum. Where necessary and appropriate on key claims, monitor progress of collections from insurers and ensure payments are executed to our clients in a timely fashion, through liaison with any involved parties including the IBA Department. Ensure any outstanding payments are chased periodically, where applicable. Liaise with your Line Manager regarding any issues, queries or areas of concern which may arise. Ensure you bring to your Line Manager’s attention any claims complaints (in addition to following the company’s general complaints procedure) and identify and inform your Line Manager of any claims which may generate a complaint (e.g. unresponsive insurer, claim unreasonably repudiated or quantum unreasonably reduced). Ensure market/insurance/legislation and other technical knowledge is developed and maintained to enable efficient claims handling. Share specialist knowledge with peers, technical group and circulation through BU online. Process all claim notifications, further advices and collections in accordance with the Claims Division’s procedures. Regularly assess the status of claims with clients and/or insurers (as applicable) and ensure that all parties are informed of progress/chased for updates, as necessary. Provide training sessions to TPAs, clients and other parts of the business. Proactively help drive, create and refine value added claim services and be able to explain our tailored Claims Service propositions at new tenders, renewals or mid-term if required, also to provide non-core specialist claims service advice to clients. Assist the Directors/Executives develop revenue generating opportunities when appropriate through additional claim services e.g. Major Loss Team, Claim Defensibility Health checks. Review insurer DA levels in place with TPA’s and compare. Identify which insurer provides best flexibility to meet BU client’s needs. Ongoing management of relationship and quality of service between the loss adjusters claims teams, Adjusting teams, Insurers, and all key clients and their suppliers. Active involvement in the monitoring of performance through management of reserves and against service level agreements through reports. Be available to support and or interface between the Major Loss Unit in managing individual large and/or complex losses Actively support the BU in delivering growth and achieving agreed business targets. Assist BU activities when required in relation to winning, retaining and developing profitable clients Carry out duties following internal policies and procedures in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, good governance and Gallagher’s shared values, in particular, putting clients at the heart of our business. If shortcomings are identified take responsibility for remedial action planning, and action in conjunction with the relevant experts within the firm. Plus any additional duties and responsibilities that may reasonably be expected to be undertaken in accordance with the role. About You Qualifications A Level or Degree level – essential. ACII qualification would be desirable. Technical Knowledge and Understanding Practical knowledge of the CLASS system and ECF claims processing. PC literate with strong MS Office skills including Word, Excel and Outlook. Practical knowledge of claims process and the general insurance industry. Experience: Comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience of commercial claims practice and processes Good understanding of BU products and services and how these compare with the products available from key competitors Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships with new clients and maintain strong relationships with existing ones Able to deal professionally internal and external contacts, able to represent BU and the wider Gallagher group with a high level of credibility Excellent client relationship skills with proven experience of delivery high levels of client service Ability to analyse data and situations and provide recommendations to identify optimum solutions Good understanding of the processes that support the operating model and strategy for the BU and Gallagher overall Experience of working with and adhering to processes and systems that support client service delivery Previous experience in a team leading role. Experience of one to one and team coaching. Technical/broking claims experience within the insurance industry.
