**Job Responsibilities**
+ Manages workers’ compensation and general liability (guest) claims from inception to resolution; indirectly supervising the assigned 3rd party administrator, partnering with the broker claims consultant, and oversight of outside counsel. Manages large 1st party property claims as they occur, partnering with the insurance adjuster and forensic accountants. (35% time)
+ Ensures claims are being managed effectively and within budget expectations, approving both reserves and settlements within approved authority levels. Ensures carriers are noticed on certain losses as required by the policy. Communicates with accounting, finance, and legal teams to ensure material exposures or recoveries are properly accounted for. Supports Director of Risk Management with reporting and analysis for annual budget process and insurance renewals. (25% time)
+ Represents company at settlement conferences, mediations, and trials, utilizing alternate dispute resolution techniques as appropriate. (5% time)
+ Works cross-functionally to lead internal investigations into high-severity incidents that may result in a claim or suit against the company. Participates on the company's crisis management team to support venues with after hours support for emergencies. (10% time)
+ Conducts file audits and reviews in partnership with the insurance broker to ensure special handling instructions are followed and claims are resolved in a timely manner and within established reserve protocols. Updates leadership as to claims expected to have a material financial impact. (10% time)
+ Participates as an advisor in risk vendor requests for proposal and provides feedback on service provider performance as appropriate. (5% time)
+ Reviews data from carrier and in-house claims systems to understand trends and suggest improvements for efficiency in both venue operations as well as claim handling. Partners with Safety on policy and procedure/best practice recommendations. (5% time)
+ Provides feedback as appropriate to the adequacy of limits, deductibles, and performance of insurance carriers across all claim programs. (5% time)
**Critical Skills & Experience Requirements**
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration
+ Industry Certifications: Adjuster's License, ARM, AIC
+ 10+ Years of experience working in a traditional property and casualty claims environment
+ 5+ Years of accountability at the management level with financial authority
+ 5+ Years of experience managing litigation including oversight of defense counsel
+ 5+ Years of multi-unit hospitality, entertainment, or restaurant experience preferred.
+ Professional discretion required when dealing with sensitive or confidential issues.
+ Calm and professional demeanor when dealing with upset guests or associates.
+ Ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently, and work independently, subject to changing priorities, proven experience meeting deadlines, managing multiple projects, and using judgment and initiative in problem resolution.
+ Demonstrates strong understanding of property and casualty risk management, including frequency and severity trend analysis, insurance policy provisions and working directly with broker representatives.
+ Excellent organizational skills, and attention to detail, including oral and written communication skills, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
+ Ability to analyze complex situations or data sets, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.
+ Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
+ Proficiency in using various risk management information systems (RMIS).
