UFG is looking for a Claims Rep l to join our team! In this entry-level position you will responsible for investigating, evaluating, and settling auto physical damage claims. This position is responsible for conducting timely and thorough investigations, verifies applicable coverages, analyzes potential exposure and deductible, estimates damages and evaluates for reserve and settlement, and brings claims to a resolution in accordance with claims best practices.
The Claims Rep l position demonstrates a strong desire to learn and grow, promotes a positive work environment, and buys into a strong service mentality to both internal and external customers. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.
Responsibilities:
Review new claims assignment to determine the nature and severity of the claim and action required. Review and interpret applicable policy coverages. If coverage issues are present review with leader or mentor for proper course of action. Make prompt, meaningful contact with insureds, claimants, witnesses and other parties of interest. Obtain claims related documents as necessary that may include police reports, damage estimates, photos, receipts, rental invoices, and total loss documents Conduct a timely and thorough investigation to identify risks/exposures and damages through securing recorded statements, compile and review investigation reports and securing and reviewing other evidence where the investigation leads you and in accordance with claims best practices. Utilize established vendors when applicable to assist with damage evaluation Evaluate damages and recommend reserves per reserve timeliness and accuracy guidelines. Auto physical damage will include both repairable vehicle and vehicles that are total losses Document all file activity through detailed file notes and prepare reports for the claim file per claims best practice guidelines. Determine and communicate coverage and liability decisions with all relevant parties. Inform underwriting when increased hazards or unusual circumstances exist concerning a risk/policy exposure. Resolution of claims through effectively negotiating, settling and/or denial. Actively identify subrogation potential and posture claim for successful subrogation recovery. Foster and maintain relationships with underwriting, risk control, marketing and the independent agency force. Recognize and promptly address bodily injury claims and litigation potential and promptly inform your supervisor or mentor. Participate in continuing educational programs and other educational opportunities to develop knowledge and skill. Required hours: 7:30-4PM CST / 8 – 4:40PM CSTQualifications:
Education:
High school diploma. 4 year degree preferred.Certifications/Designations:
Within 2 years of hire, must begin working toward AIC and other designations deemed appropriate by supervisor Meet the appropriate state licensing laws required to handle claims.Experience:
3+ years in commercial insurance.Knowledge:
