The Opportunity:

The Clamp Truck operator will work to safely operate the clamp truck. Primary duties include loading and unloading trucks, preform daily clamp truck inspection, maintain proper documentation, while maintaining work area free of unsafe conditions/housekeeping responsibilities of work area.

How you will impact Smurfit WestRock:

Responsible for maintaining work area free of unsafe conditions/housekeeping responsibilities of work areaRemove butt rolls from machine (if properly marked) and place in correct inventory locationSafe and proper unloading of box cars and trucks (avoiding product damage)Marks every roll that is unloaded with the size, grade, ticket number, lineal feet, date and signature; also puts a ticket on each rollMaintain proper documentation (run sheet) of full rolls and down rolls brought to machine in accordance with inventory tag sheetPlace caps on all roll rock going back into inventory; strip damaged rolls as needed; clean up pad of 4x4’s caps, etc. as neededFill out ACR forms as neededIdentify and mark damaged roll stockTape and repair damaged rollsWaste control of damaged roll stock/maintain proper documentationWarehouse roll stock on appropriate location inside/outside according to grade (avoiding product damage)Preventative maintenance request control-work documentation-reporting to managementMaintain highest level of machine speed level possible according to production run without sacrificing safety or qualityFeed machine with roll stock while removing caps from roll stock as they are brought inUnload railcars and trucksGets off clamp truck to open railcar doors before openingUse forklift to place and remove dock platesWalk down rail tracks to place blue flag and wheel chalkWhen unloading or loading trucks, operator needs to get off clamp truck to place lock on air line and place wheel chalk and safety chain. Must perform this function for every truck unloadedOperator can unload up to ten trucks per day


 What you need to succeed:

Maintain clamp truck/forklift operator licenseExcellent hand-eye and foot-eye coordination for safe operation of clamp truck/forkliftTeam work effort and involvement in order to meet all goalsPhysical agility to turn and twist neck and torso repeatedly during shiftMaintain safe work environment for operator and other workersOperate truck and move material in a safe and professional manner
