GFL Environmental is looking for a Residential Driver to join our Residential Collection team in Edmonton, AB!
As a Residential Driver at GFL, you will help maintain community cleanliness by collecting and transporting solid waste and/or recyclables to post-collection facilities. The ideal candidate is team-oriented, shows a strong dedication to safety and customer service while effectively handling a physically demanding role. This position requires efficiently navigating multi-stop routes, ensuring timely material collection and upholding a high standard of service.

Valid Class 3Q (airbrake) or higher operators license, with a clean 5 year commercial drivers abstract (must be within 30 days and submitted with resume)Strong physical ability to push, pull, lift and carry up to 75lbsComfortable with early morning startsMust be able to demonstrate the ability to safely drive the truck and operate the equipmentCandidates must meet the safety-sensitive function criteria as established by company standardsResponsibilities:
Operate a residential waste or recycling (side or rear load) hydraulic truck, along with operating ancillary equipment and hydraulic systems, from storage yard to collection routes, and then transport to post-collection facilities and maneuver the truck through alleys, lanes, front streets, etc.Physically load solid waste, waste carts, yard waste and/or recyclables into the collection hopper and return collection bins to their appropriate places, when applicableOperate hydraulic hopper compaction controls to condense the hopperIdentify, and tag prohibited waste items and remove the items from the waste cart or canManage assigned Helper(s) if applicableEnsure that all required personal protective equipment be worn at all times (i.e., gloves, reflective vest, safety glasses, work boots, etc.)Conform in all respects with applicable federal, state/provincial and local laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives from supervisors.Preform comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, as well as daily truck reports, route sheets and other documentation as assigned by managementUse app-based routing software for real-time navigation and documentation of on-site issuesAdvise equipment maintenance personnel of collection truck malfunctions or associated mechanical problemsFollow all safety standards and equipment checks and precautions in performance of all dutiesAssist with overflow routes, as well as shop and yard tasks and any additional duties or responsibilities as assigned by management
