GFL Environmental is looking for a Residential Driver to join our Residential Collection team in Edmonton, AB!

 

This is an extremely labor intensive role, requiring significant physical endurance and strength. As a Manual Side Load Residential Driver, you will be servicing over 1,000 residential homes per day, lifting and loading waste carts and materials by hand into the collection truck. The ideal candidate must be prepared for a highly demanding work environment that requires repetitive heavy lifting, extensive walking, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Requirements:

Valid Class 3Q (airbrake) or higher operator's license, with a clean 5-year commercial driver’s abstractExceptional physical stamina – must be able to repeatedly lift, push, pull, and carry up to 75 lbs throughout the shiftComfortable with early morning starts and long workdaysMust be able to safely drive the truck and operate manual side load equipmentMust meet the safety-sensitive function criteria as established by company standards

Responsibilities:

Manually load solid waste, yard waste, and/or recyclables into the truck hopper all dayOperate a manual side-load residential waste truck, including hydraulic hopper compaction controlsWalk and lift continuously throughout the shift, servicing over 1,000 homes dailyIdentify and tag prohibited waste items, removing them as neededEnsure all required personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn at all timesPerform comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete daily documentationCommunicate any mechanical issues to maintenance personnelFollow all safety standards and regulationsAssist with overflow routes, shop and yard tasks, and additional duties as assigned
