GFL Environmental is looking for a Class 5 Route Driver / Laborer to join our team in Victoria, British Columbia!

An Ideal candidate will safely operate pumper truck and auxiliary equipment on an assigned route to service customers in a safe and efficient manner. Deliver, pick up, clean and service portable units, wash stations and holding tanks. Deliver collected waste to disposal site.

Key Responsibilities:
• Operate a pumper truck, portable equipment and pumping system to service and/or clean portable units on a specified route.
• Load and unload equipment on trucks and trailers.
• Unload collected waste at disposal locations.

• Ability to control operations of equipment; maneuvering truck into and out of minimum clearance spaces, using mirrors to back distances of approximately 120 feet or more
• Communicate vehicle mechanical problems to mechanic and supervisor immediately.
• Maintain route quality standards as predetermined by management.
• Ensure that all required personal protective equipment be worn at all times (i.e., gloves, reflective vest, safety glasses, work boots, etc.)

• Exhibit a professional demeanor, manner and appearance at all times (i.e., meeting customers and/or the general public while on route or in uniform.)
• Maintain inventory of all portable units, wash stations, holding tanks and spare parts available and recommend purchase of additional equipment and spare parts to supervisor.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.

Requirements:
• Possess a valid Class 5 License with a clean driving record

• Forklift & trailer experience as an asset

• Driving a truck with trailer experience preferred
• Ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects up to 50 pounds repetitively using proper lifting techniques

• Sitting may be required up to 75% of the time due to the primary function of driving
