Key Responsibilities: + Develop and implement engaging lessons that meet students' academic and social-emotional needs. + Foster a classroom environment that encourages trust, respect, and open communication. + Collaborate with a dedicated team to provide comprehensive support and resources for our students. + Actively participate in training and professional development, particularly in trauma-informed education, social-emotional learning, and culturally responsive teaching. + Communicate regularly with families, building a bridge of support between home and school. + Serve as a mentor, advisor, and advocate for students, helping them navigate challenges both inside and outside the classroom. Qualifications: + Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field preferred but not required for this position (Master's preferred). + Experience working with students facing high trauma or poverty is highly valued. + Familiarity with trauma-informed practices and social-emotional learning frameworks is a plus. + Commitment to the mission and values of WNY Maritime Charter School.
