The University of Maryland Baltimore is seeking a Clean Campus Ambassador (Service Worker) that will help to maintain and create an attractive and inviting campus environment. These positions aim to provide an attractive public/campus downtown environment. Under direct supervision, the Service Worker performs a variety of manual labor activities which may include stocking, janitorial, maintenance, groundskeeping to include sweeping, emptying trash cans, weeding, graffiti and non-UMB flyers/stickers removal, debris and waste removal, moving and/or storage functions in order to act as clean campus ambassadors. Clean Campus Ambassador Team’s regular schedule is 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
Cleans assigned areas by washing furnishings, tile, fixtures, equipment windows, blinds, shades and floors. Dusts and polishes specified areas and/or furnishings.Collects and removes refuse including waste materials, graffiti, debris, general trash, and leaves from all campus property.
Removes snow and ice from sidewalks, parking lots and entrances; spreads salt, sand, deicers, or gravel to prevent slipping.
Mows lawns, trims hedges, trims, cultivates, weeds campus property. Reports concerns and maintenance needs to campus partners.
Operates a variety of hand and power tools and equipment to facilitate assigned work.
Interacts with members of the public in a professional manner. Provide directions and information to the guest, employees, and students.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations; to follow oral and written instructions; to operate assigned hand and power tools and equipment; to perform physical work requiring bending, stooping, reaching, carrying, and frequent heavy lifting; to work in adverse weather conditions; to wear and work in personal protective equipment.
Based on the duties of this position, selected candidates are eligible to participate in the Bargaining Unit (Union).
Salary Range: $38,000 (Commensurate with education and experience)
Note: New hires will receive a 2.5% adjustment to their base salary upon successful completion of 6 months probationary period.
