Job Description Summary

This position will be responsible for general cleaning in offices, office areas, restrooms, break rooms, shower areas, locker rooms, warehouse and other areas as may be assigned. Cleaning requirements include manual sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, scrubbing, mopping, and brushing of floors, furniture, fixtures, walls, windows, and other items common to these areas. Responsible for emptying and cleaning of waste baskets and trash receptacles in offices, office areas, restrooms, break rooms, shower areas, locker rooms, warehouse and other areas as may be assigned. Activities include but are not limited to: disposal of waste and trash by approved means, spot cleaning, washing/scrubbing projects, hard floor maintenance (including auto-scrubbing, buffing, stripping, and waxing), pressure washing, recycling, and miscellaneous general maintenance activities such as restocking supplies.

Job Description

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:   

To perform all daily custodial tasks in the warehouse while maintaining a safe, clean and efficient facility.

JOB SUMMARY:

Cleaning requirements include manual sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, scrubbing, mopping, and brushing of floors, furniture, fixtures, walls, windows, and other items common to these areas.  Responsible for emptying and cleaning of waste baskets and trash receptacles in offices, office areas, restrooms, break rooms, shower areas, locker rooms, warehouse and other areas as may be assigned. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs a variety of cleaning/maintenance duties as assigned, including but not limited to replacing incandescent and fluorescent light bulbs, performing light carpentry work, painting, sweeping, mopping, and snow removal. Ensure that all parking lots, walkways, fire hydrants, etc. will be cleared of snow and other debris to insure safe easy access into and exiting facilities. Assists with general maintenance work, moving and lifting equipment and materials, rubbish removal, snow shoveling, care of buildings and grounds as directed. Set up and move furniture and materials, including equipment that requires special handling. Maintains equipment in good working condition, and notifies their supervisor of needed repairs/replacement. Maintains a neat and orderly work area, including janitorial closets and storage areas. Works safely and promptly informs management about unsafe conditions. Wears personal protective equipment appropriate for the task being performed. Adheres to proper security procedures. May assist material handlers with various tasks as requested. Notifies management about problems or opportunities that affect service to the client. Collects trash from wastebaskets, clearly marked boxes or stacks, and large dumpsters and then transfers to designated areas for final disposal. Patrol exterior ground for litter, sweeps, walks and empties exterior trash as required. Clean dock areas and parking lot of any debris Insure compliance to all Cardinal and safety rules, OSHA and DOT regulations. Perform additional task upon assignment.

Skilled in:

Understanding simple cleaning instructions. Proper and safe use of tools and operating equipment used in area of assignment. Communication and effective interaction with co-workers, managers, subordinates and the general public sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work direction. Effectively work individually or in teams as well as with diverse groups. Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.  Ability to follow through on assignments. Maintains an acceptable attendance record, punctuality and meeting deadlines.

OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / DUTIES:

Ensures compliance with all company / customer regulations, policies, and procedures. Physically count all cycle counts directed to by Supervisor, report all inventory adjustments. Assist in all office duties as requested by the supervisor. Maintain personal tools required for your job. Perform assigned tasks in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.  Work overtime when required. Comply with all safety rules per company policy.

REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Education and/or Experience):

Education: A high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (G.E.D.) Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in janitorial operations in an industrial, commercial or institutional setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 75 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The position requires vision correctable to normal range for the safe operation of forklift and heavy equipment. The employee is required to have full range of body motion including handling and lifting, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination sufficient to operate hand tools and industrial machinery. Wear all Personal protective equipment including hard hats, safety toe shoes, ear plugs, safety glasses, dust mask, long sleeve shirt and pants.

 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
