Job Overview:

Under the supervision of a Department of Environmental Services Supervisor or Manager, the Cleaner cleans and supplies patient rooms, nursing stations, ancillary areas, and other areas assigned in accordance with standard procedures of the Environmental Services Department and in accordance with the Medical Center objectives.

Qualifications:

Required:

Must know how to use common house cleaning implements such as mops, floor waxes, and scouring pads to keep areas clean and well servicedAbility to follow oral and written instructionsMust have knowledge of infection control proceduresAbility to work on team tasks as well as individual assignmentsStrong interpersonal skillMust be able to lift and push up to 50 lbsMust have ability to perform physical tasks such as standing for extended periods of time, walking, pushing, lifting, bending, and reaching up overhead

Preferred:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred

Scheduling Requirements

Per Diem status: (flexibility to work day, evening, or night)Has to be able to work, weekends, holidays and schedule as needed

Essential Functions:

Cleans assigned areas by dusting and damp wiping all furnishings, walls, and equipment pertaining to assignment. Sweeping and mopping floors with designated cleaning solutions and disinfectants to prevent the spread of disease and maintain floor careUses the appropriate cloths, chemicals, and vacuum cleaner to dust windowsills, blinds, floors, carpets, furniture, and equipment in an orderly fashionScours and polishes sinks, tubs, showers, mirrors, and other equipmentReplenish supplies of soap, towels, and other dispensable itemsGathers and disposes of trash, washes wastebaskets and large refuse containers, and relines with plastic bagsSome mechanical aptitude required to operate machines and equipment
