The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), Bureau of Records and Identification, is seeking a Clerical Assistant 3 to join our dedicated clerical team. In this position, you will be responsible for processing requests for Criminal History Record Information (CHRI) from a range of non-criminal justice agencies, individuals, and businesses using the Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History (PATCH) System, as well as processing mail-in requests. DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will be responsible for reviewing and updating criminal histories as needed. This process involves interpreting and applying various criminal codes, active dates, offense classifications, and disposition entry codes. You will make precise and informed decisions regarding final court dispositions from district justices and municipal and common pleas courts. Additionally, you will research complex reference materials to verify the accuracy and completeness of individual criminal history records. You will also handle job-related phone calls and send computer-generated form letters to gather disposition information. It is essential to ensure that criminal record information is both complete and accurate and that only appropriate data is released to individuals and non-criminal justice agencies. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: + One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (commonwealth title); or + One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or + An equivalent combination of experience and training. Additional Requirement: + You must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirement: + You must pass criminal history and background investigations if you do not have a current Pennsylvania State Police background on file.
