Position Summary
The Clerical/Technical Assistant serves a combined technical/clerical role to support the Chart Review under the direction of the Registered Professional Nurse.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Include the Following:
1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
2. Access patient’s EMR to obtain information
3. Manages telephone communications efficiently and delivers messages in a timely fashion
4. Responds to telephone inquiries and acts as a liaison for patient/team
5. Calls patients daily and triage to schedule provider or RN visit
6. Schedules appointments
7. Ensures sure booking sheet matches OR schedule
8. Assembles chart for RN to review
9. Emails/phone calls to offices for missing paperwork
10. Updates charts as documents come in
11. Registers patients and performs vital signs
12. Greets and directs patients and visitors appropriately using excellent customer service skills
13. Integrates safety, patient rights and infection control methods into work practice.
14. Addresses issues with appropriate actions.
15. Participates in Performance Improvement Initiatives
16. Attends mandatory in-services and staff meetings
17. Adheres to all WPH policies and procedures including Personal Appearance, Performance Standards and Behaviors, Absenteeism and Tardiness, annual mandatory requirements and conditions of employment.
18. Collaborates and communicates effectively with the health care team.
19. Maintains patients records in systematic approach and has them available in a timely fashion for the healthcare team
20. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma required
Successful completion of departmental orientation College or Business (Secretarial) School preferred Minimum 3-5 years healthcare experience preferred

Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment
• May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital’s SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital’s Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.
• Must be physically able to transport heavy objects more than 50lbs with a minimum of one (1) assist or assistive device; perform difficult manipulative, arm – hand steadiness and hand –eye coordination skills; walk and stand for a minimum of three hours at a time. Must be physically able to meet all regulatory requirements with/without reasonable accommodation.
• Must be able to perform word processing/computer work and use of transcription equipment

*Salary Range(Ranges based on Full Time Hours): $39,923.72-$59,885.48
