Job Description
This position supports the Community Access and Eligibility Division by providing a variety of administrative support duties.
Duties:
The Clerk Advanced will prepare correspondence necessary from written or individual instruction; process incoming which includes opening, sorting, date stamping, imaging, indexing, distributing, and narrating on computer records; process outgoing mail. This position is responsible for acquisition of office supplies and forms; maintains the fixed asset inventory; assists in the training of other clerical personnel; provides limited PC support and coordinates equipment maintenance; maintains paper documents and filing system; and shreds documents as appropriate.
The Clerk Advanced will perform administrative duties according to agency policies and procedures, so that office personnel needs are met. This position will be expected to back up other clerical staff when requested to do so; assign clerical work; instruct and assist other clerks; inform clerks of new or revised policies and procedures; provide supervisory assistance in ensuring clerical work is coded and classified correctly and is mathematically correct, as well as other general administrative duties. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of operating photocopy machines, calculators, and other standard office equipment. Other duties as assigned by supervisor are completed accurately and within time frames designated. Travel to other offices as directed. Will participate in scheduled staff meetings and trainings.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
+ Experience equal to one year of full-time clerical office or closely related work.
+ A total of one year of education and/or experience (as described in number one), where one month of accredited post-high school course work in a secretarial, business, or closely related program equals one month of full-time experience.
+ A total of one year of education and/or experience (as described in number one), where 30 semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
+ A total of one year of education and/or experience (as described in numbers one through three), where certification from the state of Iowa Administrative Assistant Certificate Program equals six months of full-time experience.
+ Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes the equivalent of six months of full-time work as a Clerk.
