Clerk VI - UH Imaging Support - Floater - M-F - 6:30a-3p; e/o Sat. 8a-12p
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To perform patient registration and scheduling in a busy imaging department and/or outpatient office, including obtaining financial and clinical information, insurance data and authorizations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
First point of contact interacting with patients
Register patients for labs and check in patients efficiently and accurately.
Obtains identity, insurance and/or workers compensation information or motor vehicle accident information
Answer and route calls into the Outpatient department
Responds to questions and concerns and directs them to appropriate location or department.
Requests scripts faxed from physician offices to assist patients
Documents communication of critical results when necessary
Operates computer systems and office equipment in a safe manner.
Interacts for solution of “routine problems” as they occur to achieve customer satisfaction.
Superior performance in customer service and phone skills with ability to manage difficult patient satisfaction issues and provide service recovery.
Interacts with patients, family members, physicians, and staff in a courteous and professional manner.
Adheres to mandatory education requirements including among attendance, safety, infection control, professionalism, and dress code.
Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.

Performs other related duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Two years related medical office experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
