Responsible for general microbiology techniques

o\tDisc Diffusion

o\tGram staining

o\tPropagation of bacteria

o\tDetermination of colony forming units/mL (CFU/mL)

Responsible for developing Molecular Assays, specifically PCR, including:

o\tAssay optimization

o\tAnalytical Sensitivity & Specificity

o\tPrecision and Accuracy

o\tComparison Study to other assays

o\tReproducibility/Repeatability Studies

o\tSample Stability

Responsible for validation of microbiology assays and techniques

Must maintain data in an organized and concise manner

Responsible for presenting data to peers and supervisors (both written and oral)

Responsible for performing extraction on various matrices and assisting in development of new extraction methods.

Responsible for validation Molecular and Microbiology Assays for use in a CLIA laboratory

Must be able to write and edit Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

Must follow all laboratory procedures and policies

Maintain records and logs

Assist in quality control/improvement activities

Assist in the transfer of new technologies to the other teams (such as CLIA)

BS Degree required plus 3-5 years of experience

1.\tDescribe in a few sentences the day-to-day activity of the role.

This is a R&D position. Most days will be spent in the lab. After experiment(s) are performed, data will be shared and discussed with supervisors. Based on

the outcome of those experiments, new experiments will be designed and the process will repeat.

2.\tWhat education is required? Typically a BS in Bio, BioChem or Micro would work well.

3.\tWhat specific experience/Molecular Assays are required/preferred? Experience with Real-Time PCR or QPCR is required. They are the platform used to run all of our assays

4.\tHow much experience is required, can it be from school or must be industry? ) 3-5 years of total experience

Must have BS degree Can not consider BA degree per CLIA lab requirements.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00
