Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated CLIA R&D Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will work a Monday to Friday schedule and will be responsible for preparing samples for Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), developing molecular assays, and maintaining organized data. This role involves significant time in the lab, performing experiments, and collaborating with supervisors to design and implement new experiments based on results.
ResponsibilitiesPrepare samples for NGS, including extraction, library preparation, quantitation, and placing samples onto Illumina instruments (NGS analysis will not be performed).Develop molecular assays, including assay optimization, analytical sensitivity and specificity, precision and accuracy, comparison studies, reproducibility/repeatability studies, and sample stability.Maintain data in an organized and concise manner.Present data to peers and supervisors both in written and oral formats.Validate molecular and microbiology assays for use in a CLIA laboratory.Write and edit Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).Follow all laboratory procedures and policies.Maintain records and logs.Assist in quality control and improvement activities.Assist in the transfer of new technologies to other teams, such as CLIA.Essential SkillsExperience with Real-Time PCR or QPCR (required).Familiarity with CLIA, Q-PCR, Real-Time PCR, LIMS, liquid handling, assay development, optimization, stability testing, bacteria, and microbiology.Ability to maintain organized and concise data.Strong presentation skills for sharing data with peers and supervisors.Additional Skills & QualificationsBS Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or Microbiology (required).3-5 years of total experience, which can include industry experience.Experience with molecular assays is preferred.Work Environment
The role is based in a CLIA testing lab, where most days will be spent in the lab performing experiments. The environment requires adherence to strict laboratory procedures and policies. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with supervisors to design and implement experiments, and will be involved in the transfer of new technologies to other teams. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, and great benefits are offered once hired. Contractors also receive holiday pay, and there is potential for promotion from within.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
