Client Account Manager - Rail and Transit
The Amtrak Client Account Manager (CAM) is a position aligned to Jacobs’ market-based approach to infrastructure delivery. This position is heavily concentrated in the Northeast Corridor (NEC) and also responsible for Amtrak’s National Network. The Amtrak CAM is responsible for the client relations and satisfaction, government relations, client and business development, industry engagement and reputation management for Amtrak, and has a working knowledge of, and relationships with, the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). This is a high-profile account within Jacobs’ sales organization, with direct alignment to Jacob’s North American senior leadership and the Chief Executive Officer’s office. The position operates with three tiers of Jacobs’ relationship-based sales program: Account Management, Political Advocacy and Market Growth. Account Management Jacobs CAMs’ focus is specifically around client service and growth. You will be empowered to impact strategic business relationships, with a primary focus and responsibility for Amtrak, and secondary engagement on passenger rail priorities with the FRA. Working with members of our Global and Americas operations and sales team your focus is to make sure that Jacobs is Amtrak’s firm-of-choice, and that the company has a thorough understanding of the agency’s needs and is seen as their best advocate for accomplishing their goals. This requires a functional operational and political understanding of Amtrak and the FRA and their key agency relationships, rail funding responsibilities and project delivery interdependencies. In this role, you will engage with, and lead, select delivery and sales teams around the U.S. in a common vision of success. We’ll look to you to represent Jacobs to Amtrak and FRA in a proactive, positive, caring, solutions-oriented approach, consistent with our values, by engaging the broader firm’s depth of resources and diverse expertise to further enhance our offerings to meet both agency’s needs. You will secure management commitment and influence/attract key staff for pursuits while advocating on the agency’s behalf by actively engaging the firm to address client needs and recommend strategic actions to optimize our business development investment and market share growth. As a leader, we’ll empower you to develop trust and credibility with Amtrak, FRA and industry partners by engaging in business discussions to formulate winning portfolio diversification solutions. You will also identify higher levels of agency engagement for Jacobs’ executive sponsors. You will mentor, coach and direct a diverse set of internal teams by coordinating and facilitating pursuit decisions, and helping to develop required sales costs aligned with opportunity potential and return on investment objectives. You will actively partner with your National Account Strategist and client service teams by leading them through the disciplined sales process including developing the win strategy, technical and price proposals, interviews and presentations, contract negotiations, and other client service and engagement initiatives. Political Advocacy The Amtrak CAM will be responsible for working with Jacobs’ government relations (GR) specialists to drive an Amtrak passenger rail-centric strategy. This will keep Jacobs apprised of Amtrak’s priorities, as well as the NEC and FRA’s agendas, to target opportunities for advocating on behalf of the agencies on project opportunities that support Jacobs’ business priorities. This may include, but not limited to, identification and analysis of funding priorities and programs/projects that are gaining political traction and support. Then, evaluate and prioritize efforts around initiatives that have the highest likelihood of obtaining federal funding and offer guidance on how Jacobs can align its advocacy and strategic project positioning efforts accordingly. Market Growth The Amtrak CAM will be responsible for alignment with Jacobs’ corporate strategy and growth goals. You will refine and overall account plan that involves both organic growth and opportunities for new services and digital products to supply to Amtrak. You will integrate with national leadership and local and regional sales, operations and market solutions teams to achieve the One Jacobs approach to client and project development, as well as staff attraction and retention. You may also be called upon to lead a project team in the delivery of a key project, where appropriate. #LI-LM1236 • Significant rail/transit industry, or equivalent transportation, experience • Established relationships with Amtrak, FRA, and teaming partners nationally, with heavy focus within the Northeast Corridor • Business development and government relations experience in the A/E/C professional services and consulting industry • Ability to lead diverse account teams, set a vision and strategy, coach/mentor and motivate the team, reach within Jacobs to offer best-in-class solutions, manage commercial and legal negotiations, and close deals • Ability to strategically identify and grow services throughout the passenger rail industry • Capacity to coordinate with other Jacobs’s geographies and CAMs on regional and national pursuits • Sales knowledge and experience in identifying contracting opportunities well in advance, respond to RFPs/solicitations, interview, win and negotiate new business • Strong business acumen and effective communication skills • Bachelor’s degree in planning, engineering, architecture, business, or related field Ideally, you'll also have: • Experience with Amtrak, FRA and partner agencies, and host railroads • FRA-regulated railroad experience, including federal funding and project development processes understanding • Demonstrated business and client development experience within the NEC and experience with coordination among sales team on a regional and national basis • High degree of business development and government relations acumen • Ability to take-on and deliver billable work • Strong understanding and ability to deliver winning pricing strategies • Ideally located in the Mid-Atlantic along the Northeast corridor( Preferably, Washington, DC, or Philadelphia, PA) Jacobs is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
