Program Director with clerical and administrative duties. Coordinate consumer appointment calendar and medication logs. This position may have supervised / unsupervised contact and or conversational interaction with consumers while working in the residences. Essential Responsibilities: + P rovide direct care services to consumers, including planning and implementation of treatment goals and training, which will develop and enhance independent living skills. These include but are not limited to: + Budgeting + Grooming + Nutritional Planning + Use of public transportation/travel training + Use of community resources/community integration + Shopping/menu planning + Housekeeping + Sexual development/socialization skills + Physical health maintenance + Assertiveness/self advocacy training + Monitor consumers progress. Tasks essential to those duties include, but are not limited to; seeing, hearing and observing consumers, performing manual tasks, reading and writing (documentation, lifting, climbing and descending stairs, traveling, boarding agency vehicles), and utilize public transportation (bus, subway) use of telephone to make and receive calls. + Responsible for coordinating and obtaining appropriate medical, and psychological and/or psychiatric services. Coordinate follow-up with related service providers. Maintain calendar of all consumer appointments. Escort/ accompany/drive consumers as needed. + Responsible to monitor consumers medication (oversee intake, review records, place orders, review scripts, note changes.) + Provide training to staff on the proper supervision of the administration of medication to consumers. + Coordinate with doctors and pharmacies to ensure the timely administration of medications. + Assist in the development of resources to educate staff and consumers + Responsible to schedule and implement monthly fire drills as per OMH guidelines. Coordinate evacuation and ensure residents safety to prepare for emergency situations (i.e., fires). Tasks essential to these duties are the ability to exit in emergencies, which may require the ability to climb and descend fire escapes and assist others to do the same. + Ensure that medication cabinet and medication logs are kept up to date and in an organized manner. + Responsible for crisis intervention providing counseling as needed. + Monitor and assist planning of daily activities and events. Communicate daily with day program personnel and with clinic personnel at a minimum weekly. Monitor attendance at day program or clinic. + Assist consumers in planning and coordination of recreational/social activities. At times, this may require escorting consumers to these activities and/or participate in moderate physical activities as part of this task. + Assist consumers in obtaining employment, education or other vocational services in the community. + Report all incidents to supervisor in a timely fashion. + Participate in weekly supervision with Program Director . + Must be able to read typed and written correspondence, clinical notes, communication log, staff meeting minutes, doctors orders, fire drill logs; able to write, able to use the telephone. + Communicate information with all staff and supervisor(s) verbally and in writing for the purpose of providing feedback. + Able to lift/carry packages and boxes of supplies. + If deemed necessary, must be able to participate in these programs at various sites and varying times. The ability to complete the following trainings offered: CPR/First Aid, Medication Supervision, Cultural Competence, CPI, TIP-42, Motivational Interviewing, and Suicide Assessment and Prevention. + Participate in activities of other staff members in their absence or during periods of staff shortage (i.e. cook, clerical, direct care counselor). + Represent the residence at meetings, trainings not otherwise specified. + Ability to work flexible schedule as work schedule and location are subject to change. + Drive facility vehicle when the need arises. + Maintain confidentiality at all times. + This does not limit the assignment of duties or exclude the performance of other duties not mentioned, as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications Experience working with psychiatric population. Bachelor's Degree and some supervisory experience preferred. Must be able to work flexible hours and escort/drive consumers to appointments. New York State driver's license required.
