Compensation 

Expected Salary: Minimum $105,000 per year

Who You Are:

Versar Global Solutions is seeking a Climate and Resilience technical and team lead for our growing Climate and Resilience Program and portfolio of climate and resilience adaptation projects primarily with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and specifically the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience supporting federal and military organizations, leading climate and resilience focused consulting projects, applying best practice resilience planning concepts and solutions (particularly Nature-Based Solutions), and leading teams in highly innovative, cross-functional work. 

This position is situated within our Environmental Management (EM) Market Sector and will require working collaboratively with other technical areas within EM as well as our Applied Professional and Technology Solutions Business Area (APTS), which provides geospatial and data solutions for a variety of federal and commercial customers. 

What You’ll Do:

Technical Leadership 

Provide expertise, and lead technical teams, including subcontractors, in the assessment and development of plans and specifications for climate resilience and adaptation solutions across a variety of U.S. and international regions and environmental contexts. The solutions could include, but are not limited to, a blend of gray and green infrastructure, flood mitigation, coastal resilience, other water management, and ecological stream restoration, with a focus on Nature-Based Solutions. Support technical excellence in executing vulnerability assessments, climate adaptation alternatives development, predictive modeling, resilience planning, and ecologically focused restoration projects primarily for Navy/Marine Corps clients but also other DoD entities, SLED, and commercial clients. Ensure project deliverables are produced on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards by tracking, monitoring, and managing program/project progress, financials, schedules, and deliverables. Proactively identify potential project performance issues and lead development of mitigation strategies. Provide mentorship in task and team leadership to junior staff and staff from other disciplines supporting Climate and Resilience project. Support the Climate and Resilience Program Manager in the technical leadership of all Climate and Resilience Program projects, and the general growth, development, and capacity of the Program. 

Project / Task Leadership 

Excellent communication skills, as well as strong conceptual, organizational, problem solving and research abilities. Ability to work collaboratively with team members and clients and show demonstrated expertise in managing several complex tasks simultaneously. Management of multidisciplinary, geographically diverse teams, which include staff with backgrounds in environmental management and sustainability, geospatial modeling and analysis, and site and facility engineering and design. Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project including report formatting and production of technical reports and proposals. Detail-oriented, organized, and team player with a strong focus on quality and customer service. 

What You’ll Bring:

Bachelor’s degree in ecology, environmental engineering, sustainability, climate change science, planning, environmental science, or a related degree.  Advanced degree preferred. 8+ years’ experience leading technical work in the architecture, engineering, planning, and specifically climate and resilience markets for the DoD. Command of Navy and Marine Corps guidance, processes, frameworks, and internal workings are ideal. Other federal and military experience, at least, is strongly desired. Proven project management experience - ability to manage teams and execute projects within scope/schedule/budget and see through to completion. Exceptional relationship building and management skills to establish rapport, trust, and confidence with both the customer and in-house operational teams. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.  Ability to operate in a dynamic organization and adapt to changing environments. Energetic, enthusiastic, organized, and self-motivated. Business travel is required. Must be proficient in English, both written and verbal, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.Successful results of preemployment screenings, including federal background check, MVR, and drug screen.Comply with company drug and alcohol policy.Be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate’s start date.

Location Requirements

Primary work location is flexible with office, hybrid, or telework options.  A home base in the Middle Atlantic is preferred but not required.
