Thoracic Radiologist 

The University of Florida College of Medicine and UF Health are seeking a Thoracic Radiologist to join the Department of Radiology. The department is expanding to meet growing patient care needs and to advance the academic missions, including education at all levels and independent and collaborative research. Academic rank and track will be determined based on the applicant’s academic achievements and experience.

Gainesville is the county seat of Alachua County, Florida, and the most populous city in North Central Florida, with a population of 145,214 in 2022. Gainesville is a charming college town with a desirable standard and cost of living, strong schools, weather that supports 4 seasons of easy outdoor activity, and proximity to both Atlantic and Gulf beaches as well as national parks. International airports in Orlando and Jacksonville are an easy drive from Gainesville, and the Gainesville Regional Airport provides easy connections to other hubs. Walt Disney World and Universal Theme Parks are approximately two hours away, useful as meeting venues and family vacations.

Position Overview: The Department of Radiology at University of Florida College of Medicine and UF Health are committed to the faculty and seek applicants for the Thoracic Imaging position who desire a team environment, subspecialty work, and opportunities to shape a unique career that involves clinical, academic, and leadership pursuits. All faculty are involved in teaching residents and fellows as well as collaborating with faculty and learners in other departments. Most research and innovation are team-based and supported by a growing research infrastructure. The Chest Division has experienced leadership and opportunities for work in global health and in multi-institutional research.

The Division of Thoracic Imaging specializes in all facets of thoracic imaging, particularly oncology, interstitial lung disease, and critical in-patient care. This role offers significant opportunities for career advancement in a multidisciplinary environment, supported by extensive clinical, research, and educational resources, including cutting-edge imaging technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and health services research. We continue to build efficient processes and administrative support that allows our faculty to work at the top of their license and to pursue their career interests.

Department/Division Overview: The Department of Radiology is expanding, with new facilities at the main campus and around North Florida. Highlights include:

11 hospitals with more than 140 primary care and specialty practices and more than 2,000 providers. 1,074-bed hospital and biomedical research at the main campus. Newly constructed hospitals and ambulatory care centers in North Florida.

Duties and Responsibilities

Regular shifts from 8am to 5pm, with occasional evening, weekend, and holiday coverage. Remote work is around 25% with most on-calls covered remote. Responsibilities include plain film radiography, CT, and MR interpretation (including cardiac or Aortic CTA). Engage in clinical and imaging operations, education, training, and faculty development. Support research and innovation, potentially serving as PI or Co-I on grants and clinical trials. Represent the Department on various committees. Expected Salary:

Minimum Requirements:

MD, D.O., or equivalent degree.
• Board certification in Radiology (ABR, AOBR) is preferred, but not required.
• Fellowship in Thoracic Imaging.
• Eligibility for licensure in the Florida license.
